What are some of your favorite Sci-Fi movies?Ĭhanged the question to read Sci-Fi movies. Dune 2000, Command and Coq, Empire Earth 1 and 2, Ultima series, then came the online games, Star-lancer, LOTRO, Star Wars Online (not a lot), and lately, WOT, WOWS, WOWP What were some of your favorite video games as a child? If you could command any ship in any Sci-Fi universe, what would it be and why?Įnterprise because of the mission. If you could live in any Sci-Fi world which one would it be? It was my best carry game ever and because it was an E-25 doing it everyone was waiting to see if I could do it, so the chat was like a firestorm of good and bad. My favorite memory is when i carried a game with 7 kills in World OF tanks in my E-25 and the took on the last 3 players on the enemy team by myself. You can do anything in the star wars universe and that's why i like it best.

But of all the series, i think the Star Wars series has the most unlimited worlds and options. So i like star trek, pern, and many others as well. I think every fan of Sci-Fi likes aspects of every sci-fi series. World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, World of Warships, and soon, this game too. Any ship can conquer any planet once its defenses are down. I use AutoConquer to sweep all that off the board. Also the AI empires spend immense amounts of resources on transports and troops they are incapable of using. By the eXtermination phase only real players can effectively conquer planets, This is a player cheat. The AI empires have problems with timing of troop transport task forces arrive with their attack fleets at an enemy planet, and so tend to bombard planets clean of all population. This IMMENSELY speeds up MOO3's sucky pacing, and also makes the AI empires much more competitive. That way any warship can conquer a planet once its defenses are down - the planet "surrenders". And I alter Stellar Converter so the only effect it has (no damage at all) is the AutoConquer mod. I personally use the regular old text editor to eliminate ground troops and transports from the game, and give everyone a modded form of Stellar Converter as a starting tech, with it having a minimal size and cost.

One mod which you should use is AutoBuild to make the AI ship design include a decent proportion of point defense weapons on each warship. I also recommend judicious use of the Galaxy Forge and Saved Game editor, before running your first turn, to improve your empire's starting position and technology tree when you start playing at the impossible difficulty level.

The mods are very much a matter of personal preference. Those just fix the game so it doesn't crash, and does the things it is supposed to do properly.

Install ALL of Bhruic's patches, which are labelled as "patches". Jean, the Hamburg site posted by MOO2MOD has all of Bhruic's patches and mods. Hopefully MOO4 will keep me as interested as long as MOO3 did once Bhruic fixed it, which was pretty much continuous 2005 - 2010, and a fair amount 2003 - 2004. This of course led to my playtesting of some SPI wargames for Jim, and I worked on D&D enough to have game credits in the first edition of the Players Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Naval historian Jack Greene (later of Quarterdeck Games) and I playtested Avalon Hill's Jutland for Jim Dunnigan when we were in high school, then I playtested their 1914 game as a college freshman. I started gaming in 1961 with Tactics II by the Avalon HIll game company. THAT was what made the game playable, and when we finally discovered what a great strategic game MOO3 was, albeit two years after its release.

I also passed the happy discovery of the MOO3 source code annotations on the Mac version of the game to the great Canadian game programmer Bhruic, who then debugged the MOO3 code and produced all the many fan code mods to the game, plus the MOO3 saved game editor. Ken gave me the MOO2 saved game code annotations to forward to a South American programmer who developed the primary MOO2 saved game editor. This can be checked with Alan, Steve Barcia and Ken Burd. I was involved in developing all three prior versions of MOO. Alan Emrich called me "MOO's greatest fan" and that was probably true at the time.
